Ministry of Alternative Cartography

Ministry of Alternative Cartography grows from participatory walks in Enghien-les-Bains and Košice. Inspired by Guy Debord’s Situationist dérive and Georges Perec’s attention to the everyday, it follows traces of what Google Maps cannot see: unofficial landmarks, mental desire paths and acts of care. Photographs, spoken lines and music appear alongside the Atlas of Human Seeings. Could a desire path be democracy in its most embodied form, and a throw of the dice a little revolution?

The exhibition is the result of the international artistic collaboration City to City, which connects Košice with Enghien-les-Bains, France. Dominika Čupková and Laure Brisa are collaborating on the project, bringing distinct artistic approaches—ranging from artificial intelligence and research to music, performance, and sound art. Their joint work explores the future of life, technology, and the relationship between natural and artificial environments.
